The Vidalia Vikings took out the aggression of a disappointing season on the hapless Crowville Tigers Friday, beating the winless team 41-8.

The Vikings (4-5) could have won by more; Vidalia attempted a field goal in the fourth quarter to keep from running up the score, and Crowville’s only score, an 80-yard pass from Barry Carter to Bear Fletcher, didn’t come until late in the fourth quarter.

&uot;The kids played well,&uot; Vidalia coach Dee Faircloth said. &uot;Except for the dropped passes. That’s been our story all year.&uot;

Vikings’ wingback Ryan Boles dropped two potential touchdowns in the first quarter before hauling in a team-high five catches for 41 yards and a touchdown.

&uot;We started out kind of slow,&uot; said senior quarterback Jarrett Hoffpauir, who finished the game 10-of-21 for 221 yards, with three touchdowns and no interceptions. &uot;Things didn’t go so well in the first quarter. Then we made a few clutch catches and got some touchdowns.&uot;

T.J. Banks started the Vikings scoring run with a 40-yard touchdown dash up the middle. Hoffpauir added another first quarter score with a 9-yard pass to Jessie Lyles. Hoffpauir kicked both extra points.

Hannibal Yearby bulldogged his way into the end zone from six yards out at 7:05 in the second quarter, and Hoffpauir’s 4-yard TD pass to Boles made the halftime score 26-0.

Jessie Lyles streaked down the field for a 91-yard TD pass from Hoffpauir in the third quarter, and Roderick Randall’s 15-yard scoring run gave Vidalia a 41-0 lead heading into the fourth quarter.

&uot;All the seniors talked about it before the game,&uot; said Hoffpauir, who has likely played his last game at Vikings Stadium. &uot;We knew we’d have to give 110 percent on every play. I think we did.&uot;

Vidalia travels to Ferriday next week.
