VIDALIA — Services for Anna “Evelyn” Crothers, 83, of Vidalia, who died Tuesday, Aug. 14, 2012, in Vidalia, will be at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church of Vidalia with the Dr. Ralph Webber officiating.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Lambert Cemetery in Lambert under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the church.

Mrs. Crothers was born Dec. 4, 1928, in Marks, the daughter of James Edwards Perkins and Kate Perkins.

Mrs. Crothers was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Vidalia. She enjoyed attending Sunday school, Young at Heart and volunteering in the church office. She was a hard worker and had a number of titles. She was a bookkeeper and secretary for the Town of Lambert, Lambert High School, Concordia Parish School Board and River Cement. She was also an entrepreneur and had three businesses in Vidalia, Poboy Palace, Slinky Minx and Yesterday’s Cafe. Her most important titles were loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Mrs. Crothers also loved to garden, sew and cook.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Crothers; her parents; three sisters; four brothers; and one brother-in-law.

Survivors include two sons, Phil Crothers of Vidalia and Tim Crothers of Brandon; two daughters, Kay Merritt and husband, Ed, of Lyon and Alice Crothers of Vidalia; two granddaughters, Kate Hughes and husband, Michael, and Amanda Everett and husband, Peyton; two grandsons, Yancey Hanks and wife, Christey, and Jay Merritt and wife, Mandy; and one great-grandson, Michael Cash Hughes.

Pallbearers will be Ed Merritt, Jay Merritt, Peyton Everett, Phil Crothers, Tim Crothers and Steve Fleming.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer Association.
