FERRIDAY — After four hours of searching through wooded areas in Ferriday Wednesday morning, it took the help of two bloodhound noses, nine chase team members and several Concordia Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputies to capture two inmates that escaped from the Franklin Parish Detention Center.

Brothers Michael James Robair, 25, and Matthew Lawrence Robair, 22, both of Winnsboro, La., were serving time for armed robbery at the detention center in Franklin Parish before escaping at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday, CPSO Chief Deputy David Hedrick said.

Driving through Ferriday in a stolen white Jeep Liberty, the inmates were pulled over by a CPSO deputy on Deacon Wailes Road at approximately 3:30 a.m., Hedrick said.

The inmates fled the vehicle and ran into the surrounding wooded areas, Hedrick said.

“We had perimeters set up all around the area looking for the suspects,” Hedrick said.

Two bloodhounds and nine officers with the Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola Chase Team had been helping the Franklin Parish Sheriff’s Office conduct the search since Tuesday, Hedrick said.

“Once those bloodhounds picked up the scent, it was game over,” Hedrick said.

The chase team, along with CPSO deputies, caught the inmates on Cowan Street at approximately 7:10 a.m., Hedrick said.

The inmates were both booked into CPSO on a charge of warrant for other agency on simple escape and were transported back to the Franklin Parish Detention Center Wednesday afternoon.
