Bulldogs score win on road

JACKSON – Jamal Bouldin led a balanced Natchez scoring attack with 24 points as the Bulldogs defeated the Provine Rams 75-56 in a Division 6-5A game Tuesday night in Jackson.
&uot;This is the first time we’ve beat Provine here in years,&uot; said Natchez head coach Mike Martin.
Natchez (5-1, 1-0) had four players score in double figures in the contest.
Je’Kel Foster had 16 points, Vasshun Newborne had 14 points and Burton Broudy had 10 points.
&uot;The first half I was trying to step up on defense and it wasn’t coming to me,&uot; Broudy said. &uot;The second half I was trying to step up on defense and it still wasn’t coming to me.&uot;
&uot;Jamal stepped up at the end. Vasshun stepped up, too,&uot; he added.
Natchez led 36-25 at halftime, but saw its lead cut to eight points as Provine outscored the Bulldogs 24-21 in the third quarter.
But the Bulldogs put the clamps on the Rams by outscoring them 18-7 in the fourth quarter for the final score.
Tori Ross had 16 points and Darien Dixon had 13 points to lead Provine.
The Lady Rams fared better than their male counterparts as they defeated the Lady Bulldogs 65-51.
Keisha Carter led the Lady Rams with 17 points and teammates Tonya Thomas and Tosha Christmas chipped in with 13 and 11 points, respectively.
Chrystal Sylvester led the Lady Bulldogs (2-3, 0-1) with 16 points and Gloria Lewis added 14 points.
