Cathedral’s varsity girls and boys basketball teams split a doubleheader with Sicily Island Friday night at the Cathedral Gym.

The Lady Green Wave improved to 2-1 on the season with a 41-29 win over Sicily Island.

Mary Margaret Alwood and Vee Brice scored 14 points apiece to lead the Lady Green Wave.

&uot;We did a good job of moving the ball on offense,&uot; Lady Green Wave head coach Craig Beesley said.

&uot;Mary Margaret Alwood had a good game.&uot;

Jessica Barrett had 12 rebounds to go along with four points.

&uot;Barrett did a real good job on the rebounds,&uot; Beesley said.

Trina Branson led Sicily Island with 20 points.

Sicily Island’s varsity boys team defeated the Cathedral Green Wave 59-33.

Donald Dunbar led Sicily Island with a game-high 22 points.

Willie Clark led Cathedral (1-3) with 18 points.

Dunbar and Clark were the only players on each team to score double-digit points.

Cathedral returns to Division 6-2A play when it plays at Wesson beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28.
