A citizen’s tip led officers to the truck stolen in a Monday morning carjacking. Adams County Sheriff Tommy Ferrell said officers located the stolen black 1995 Chevrolet Silverado thanks to an article in Tuesday’s Democrat.

&uot;A citizen who saw the article called this morning to report a vehicle matching the description,&uot; Ferrell said.

The citizen saw the vehicle parked at a business off River Terminal Road late Monday night, Ferrell said. By Tuesday morning, it was covered with frost – but still in the parking lot.

It was undamaged, although the keys and some articles clothing were missing, said Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff.

The truck was returned to its owner, Elizabeth May, 44, of Vidalia, La. May was accosted at knifepoint early Monday in the parking lot of the Kmart shopping center on John R. Junkin Drive, police said. May said a man forced her into the passenger seat at Kmart and drove east on John R. Junkin Drive while holding a knife to her rib cage.

She managed to escape when the man slowed down for a traffic light at the intersection of Highland Boulevard and Seargent S. Prentiss Drive.

Police are working to locate a possible suspect with the help of a composite photograph published on Tuesday. &uot;We’ve got some calls on the composite and we’re checking the leads as they come in,&uot; Huff said.
