Oakland Water Works boil order lifted

NATCHEZ — The boil-water order for Oakland Water Works customers has been lifted, according to a news release from the Mississippi Department of Health.

MDH tests indicate the water is now safe to drink, the release said.

The order was issued Friday because of a loss in pressure in the water system, and MDH protocol considers every system that loses pressure to be contaminated until it tests clear of any dangerous bacteria.

The order affected approximately 300 customers.
