Start the rest of your week with good news

Good morning and good … Tuesday? As we start the rest of the week warmed with the glow of Christmas and the spirit it shares, we take a break from cleaning up bows and wrapping paper and stop to reflect on the good news and deeds of the week gone by.
While no mention of the &uot;good news&uot; could omit the importance of the celebration of Christmas, we recognize another aspect of that celebration – the spirit that embraces the Miss-Lou. From downtown Natchez to the houses on Palestine Road to the competitors in Vidalia, Christmas lights and decorations were twinkling last week, spirits were high and our community was shining …
It made for a truly magical Christmas weekend … even if we didn’t have snow.
The city of Natchez showed off its newly renovated City Auditorium at a well-attended open house last week. The project, started under the previous administration, is long-overdue and the improvements to the auditorium are a benefit to us all. We salute those who had the vision to see the possibilities and who pushed ahead for the renovations to take place.
Thank you, to the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce’s Legislative Committee, which organized a visit by Mississippi Gov. Ronnie Musgrove last week. Musgrove took advantage of opportunity to explain his budget proposals for the next fiscal year, as well as answer questions from the audience. The governor’s assertive role in the state budgeting process should prove interesting as he strives to work with the Legislature. We look forward to hearing our local lawmakers’ views on this process, too.
And, again, here’s hoping you have a week filled with good news and good deeds …
