Many people in the Miss-Lou spent the last week before back-to-school time on last-minute preparations and last-chance relaxations.

Let’s review a few of the good things that highlighted that week.

-Malcolm Bouldin, 9, is ready to get back to school, but his eyes are also on bigger goals — like the NBA. Bouldin, a good student who is active in many activities, may be a long way from professional basketball, but he still has a bright future ahead.

-Higher-than-expected tax revenues have left the county with an unexpected $290,000. That’s good news, and we trust county leaders will spend it well.

-The Markets Food and Lifestyle Show filled tummies this weekend in Vidalia. We hope you found the snack you were after.

– The Vidalia 15- and 16-year-old softball all-stars are headed to Delaware this week for the Little League World Series. This group of girls has been dominant on the field for years, and we wish them the best of luck.

-Natchez High students braved the heat for band camp last week, while dozens of area football players did the same. It’s good to see our young people devoted to hard work.

School will begin for Cathedral, Adams County Christian, Trinity and Concordia Parish schools this week. Let’s make it a great year!
