VIDALIA, La. – Modifying of architectural plans for a Vidalia riverfront clinic has delayed the project, but a spokesman for doctors building the clinic say ground should be broken for the project in six months.
&uot; We’re going through architectural modifications now, and those should be finished in two to three months, and then we’ll proceed with getting financing for the project set up&uot; and getting building permits, Dr. John White said Monday.
Once ground is broken, construction is expected to take 12 to 14 months. Modifications could involve making the Riverpark Medical Center, a planned 12,000-square-foot surgical outpatient clinic, one building instead of two, White said. The center will have an imaging center and doctors’ offices.
The group building the clinic, Twin Oaks Holding LLC, is now soliciting bids for equipment for the clinic. The group’s partners include White and Drs. Barry Tillman, Randy Tillman and Rus Fairbanks.
The Twin Oaks group first planned on locating the complex in Adams County.
But in Mississippi, medical facilities have to get a certificate from the Department of Health saying there’s a need for such a facility. In Louisiana, they do not.
The center will be part of a $45 million riverfront development, Vidalia Landing, that could include a visitors center, stores, restaurants, an amphitheater, condominiums, recreational fields and other attractions.
