As any good coach can attest, individuals can occasionally do amazing things, but people working together as a team can move mountains.

The future of recreation in Natchez and Adams County depends on whether three &uot;individuals&uot; can begin acting as a team.

We hope they can.

On Thursday, leaders with the City of Natchez met with representatives of the Natchez-Adams School District and the Adams County Board of Supervisors to discuss their game strategy.

The goal is simple: Working together to help make a huge recreational complex become a reality.

The task at hand is staggering. Planning and funding a multi-million dollar, state-of-the-art sports complex.

As in many such endeavors the only way to achieve this in an efficient and economical standpoint is to join forces and work together.

The City of Natchez has said it plans to proceed with the sports complex but has the vision to see that the complex would be much, much better with the help of the other two. And all three parties have a need for such a facility.

Recreational facilities have been on the back burner for years. On the surface it’s hard to justify spending tax dollars for &uot;recreation&uot; when such things as streets and drainage need attention.

Fortunately some folks realize recreational areas aren’t just a &uot;waste&uot; of good money. They are an investment in our people and in our economy.

Natchez and Adams County are woven together through their people – and those people deserve the best possible facility.

We hope the three boards will huddle up, come up with a game plan and move together toward the goal.
