Think before you celebrate

We can think of at least a few ways to ensure that you and yours won’t have a happy New Year.
And you should realize them too.
– Fireworks can cause damage. Please, please don’t let anyone under the age of 18 shoot fireworks this week without close supervision. Young children shouldn’t be touching the explosives anyway, and those mature enough to fire a few of their own need an adult eye nearby.
– Make sure you know the fireworks laws for the area in which you live. The City of Natchez does not allow fireworks. A late-night visit from a police officer will probably ruin the party.
– Be courteous to your neighbors. Yes, we know it’s New Year’s Eve, but it still may not be appropriate to ignite a series of loud bangs next door to the house of an ill senior citizen or a newborn baby. Just ask them first and find a new location if necessary.
– Don’t drink and drive. This should go without saying, yet every year people do it. Find a designated driver, stay home or don’t drink.
– Don’t overdo it. Too much alcohol for any age person can cause problems. You want to remember the New Year, don’t you?
Stay safe, abide by the law and have a Happy New Year!
