Huntington destroys Lady Saints

Emily Hazlip had an inside-the-park home run as part of a five-run first inning as the Huntington Lady Hounds cruised to a 13-1 win over the Trinity Lady Saints Monday at Huntington in MPSA District 5-1A softball action.
Monday’s game was originally scheduled for today.
Huntington improved to 10-5 overall and 2-0 in district play.
JoLee Hughes was the winning pitcher for Huntington as she allowed one run and six hits in five innings and had a double at the plate.
Lauren Wagoner went 3-for-3 with two triples and a double for the Lady Hounds. Whitney Bradford was 2-for-3 with a triple; Tiffany Ferguson went 2-for-3 with a double; and Lindsay Wagoner was 2-for-2 with a triple.
Ashley McCalip was the losing pitcher, but had a solid game at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a double. Ashley Kingsafer had a double for the Lady Saints.
In the junior varsity game, Huntington defeated Trinity 10-4.
Michelle Yearick was the winning pitcher for Huntington.
Mallory Archer was the losing pitcher for Trinity. She also went 1-for-2 with a triple. Lauren Harper was 1-for-2 with a double.
Sylvia Moak went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Huntington’s 12-hit attack.
Tabitha Baxter and Katie Rife each went 2-for-2 and Jacquelyn Randall had a triple.
Trinity hosts Parklane at the Natchez Girls Softball Complex beginning with the varsity game followed by the JV game at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Huntington returns to action when it hosts the Spring Fling Round-Robin Tournament which will consist of Huntington, Trinity, Jackson Academy, Parklane and Heidelburg Academy beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
