Surveillance cameras captured a heavily-disguised man carrying a shopping bag and a .38-caliber pistol robbing the MLK Video Rental and Music World Tuesday night.

Store owner Michael Green said the man, wearing a bandana around his face, dark sunglasses and a hood, walked away with more than $700 cash and several CDs and cassette tapes from the store at 809 Martin Luther King Jr. St.

Green said the female clerk was on the floor loading the soft drink machine at exactly 8:24 pm when a man rushed through the door, pointed a gun down at her and demanded money.

The clerk obliged, handing over the stacks of cash before pulling out the register drawer to show it was empty.

&uot;And at that point, he went shopping.&uot; Green said.

Refusing to touch any of the merchandise, the man then went from shelf to shelf pointing out to the clerk which CDs and tapes he wanted and forcing her to place them in the plastic bag.

After making his selections, the man made the clerk lie on the floor as he ran outside. Green said the clerk quickly locked the door behind him and called the police.

Natchez Police Chief Willie Huff said investigators will use the surveillance tapes to draw up a description of the suspect, but anyone with information should contact CrimeStoppers.

&uot;We’re reviewing the video tapes to see if they can be of any assistance,&uot; Huff said.

Green, who has owned the store four years, said he hopes the surveillance cameras will prove a wise investment.

&uot;If you own a business, you need one. Hopefully it’ll pay off,&uot; he said.

Green also encouraged other storeowners who keep late hours to be on the lookout for suspicious people.

&uot;He needs to be caught, because it might not be me next time.&uot;
