Concordia 14s get split at state tourney

BOSSIER CITY, La. — The Concordia Dixie Youth 14-year-old All-Stars split two games Saturday in the Louisiana Dixie Youth state tournament.

In Game 1, Cade Passman took the loss as Shreveport beat Concordia 10-1. Cade Passman scored Concordia’s only run in that game, and Jake Cooper went 2-for-3.

Concordia bounced back in Game 2 against Ponchatoula, with Cole Cangemi and Cooper combining for a no-hitter. Cangemi went the first five innings, striking out nine batters and issuing one walk.

Cooper pitched the final two innings, surrendering three walks and striking out two.

Landon Seyfarth and Passman both had doubles in Game 2, and Seyfarth was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Tyler Cothern finished 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Concordia will play again at 9 a.m. today.
