As planes soar overhead and motorcycles zoom below, visitors to the Natchez-Adams Airport may have a hard time keeping up with all the activity during this weekend’s Airshow & Motorcycle Extravaganza.

&uot;You’re just not going to know whether to look up in the air or (look down) on the ground,&uot; said Theresa Peters, assistant area director of the River Cities Chapter of ABATE of Mississippi.

Peters said this year’s show, the second of its kind, is much bigger than last year’s show. It will include carnival rides, games, drag racing and other activities for the whole crowd.

Spectators will view several air shows, including a performances by wing walker Theresa Stokes.

For motorcycle enthusiasts the weekend will feature a two-day drag racing event with a cash prize and a All-Harley Dyno Shoot Out for $50 for people who want to test their motorcycles, Peters said.

The gates will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.

The Natchez-Adams Airport is located off U.S. 61 North. Two-day gate fees for the show cost $20 for those ages 13 and up, $7 for children ages 4 to 12 and children three and under are admitted free. Adults must accompany children.

All proceeds from the nonprofit show benefit the Sunshine Shelter for Abused and Neglected Children in Natchez, Peters said.

&uot;We want to be able to give a lot of money to the shelter to keep them open,&uot; Peters said.

Last year’s airshow met all of its expenses primarily from people outside the Miss-Lou area so this year the organizers hope more local residents will come out to enjoy the show and to support a good cause.

&uot;It’s about Mississippi. It’s about Natchez,&uot; Peters said &uot;It’s about something that means a lot to a lot of people.&uot;
