WOODVILLE – Unofficial election returns on Tuesday, gave longtime Woodville Mayor Gary D’Aquilla another term in office.
D’Aquilla, who has served many years as an alderman and most recently as mayor, defeated political newcomer Alan D. Ryan to earn another four years in office.
Ryan, a local real estate broker, was seeking his first political office.
Unofficial returns showed that D’Aquilla led the ballot with 272 votes to Ryan’s 198.
In the race for alderman, four names appeared on the ballot. Incumbents Earl Dean Anthony and Sharon McFarland Dawson and newcomers Gene Lofton and David A. Smith were all elected as party candidates in the Democratic Primary in May.
Only their names appeared in the race for the four seats as aldermen.
D’Aquilla and the four aldermen will take the oath of office on July 3.
