Four local residents – including two juveniles – were arrested this week in connection with the June 18th armed robbery of the Maxi Mart on Lower Woodville Road.
Nicholas Bradford, 19, of 2 Phillip West Road; Carl Thomas Ryan, 16, of 150 Tubman Circle; Donald M. Brengettsy, 20, of 7 Bills Cul De Sac; and Walter Jones III, 16, of 14 Old Providence Road, have been charged with armed robbery.
Because of the nature of the crime, the two 16-year-olds are being charged as adults, said Maj. John Manley, of the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
Manley said anyone 13 years or older can be tried as an adult if the crime involves a weapon. &uot; These kids need to realize that,&uot; he said.
Manley said deputies believe two of the four suspects entered the gas station wearing ski masks, waving a gun and demanding money.
One of the four suspects drove the getaway car and the other served as a lookout, Manley said.
The stolen money has not been recovered, but the storeowner estimated the loss between $1,000 and $1,200.
Deputies were investigating the robbery but no more arrests are expected, Manley said.
The four suspects were being held without bond Wednesday at the Adams County Jail pending arraignment.
