Jeremy Davis’s two-out home run in the top of the seventh inning broke a tie ball game as the Natchez All-Stars came away with a hard-fought, 4-2 win over the Copiah County All-Stars Sunday night in the 2001 Dixie Boys District 4 14-year-old Tournament at the Natchez Dixie Boys baseball field.

The Natchez All-Stars survived an outstanding pitching and hitting performance by Copiah County’s Joseph Langham.

Langham pitched a complete game, allowing four runs on six hits and seven walks while striking out 11 batters. He also went 3-for-4 with a home run.

&uot;Langham did a good job pitching and he made us look horrible,&uot; said Natchez All-Star coach Joe Eidt.

Natchez tied the game in the top of the second when David Trisler walked, advanced to second on Joey Wilson’s single and scored on an RBI single by Jamie Morris.

The score remained tied at one until the top of the fifth when, with two outs, Davis hit his first home run of the game to right-centerfield to give&160;Natchez a 2-1 lead.

Copiah County had a great opportunity to take the lead with two on and only one out in the bottom of the sixth, but Williams struck out and David&160;Hester popped to second baseman Dustin Case to end the inning.

Just when it looked like Langham was going to have a 1-2-3 inning in the top of the seventh, Davis stopped that with his towering shot to left field. Chris Rasco added an RBI double that scored Drew Burns from first base to give Natchez a little breathing room.

&uot;The second home run – I just ripped it,&uot; Davis said. &uot;I just wanted to get a rally started.&uot;

Natchez will play Summit in a winner’s bracket game at 8 p.m. today while Copiah County plays Wilk-Amite at 3 p.m. today in a loser’s bracket game.
