Wallace tops Ace-Adams again

The Natchez Wallace League All-Star team pounded out 10 hits and three pitchers combined for a three-hitter en route to an 8-3 win over the Natchez Ace Adams League All-Star team Tuesday night at Carroll-Jones Field in the 2001 Dixie Youth 11- and 12-year-olds West Sub-District Tournament.
With the win, the Natchez Wallace All-Stars advance to the championship game against the Franklin County All-Star team at 7 p.m. today.
Franklin County advanced to the title game by defeating the Pine Hills All-Stars 7-1 Monday.
&uot;We played a good game,&uot; said Natchez Wallace head coach Brad Fondren. &uot;I’m glad to be in the finals.&uot;
&uot;Franklin County’s always well-coached. They always bring a good team,&uot; he said. &uot;We better be ready to play.&uot;
Winning pitcher Austin Weeks, Steven Ridley and Dustin Carroll each allowed one hit their two innings each on the mound for the Natchez Wallace team.
&uot;We had good pitching once again tonight,&uot; Fondren said.
Natchez Wallace then scored three runs in the bottom of the first on a two-run single by Jeremy Ellis and a wild pitch . It scored two more in the bottom of the third on the first of two RBI singles in the game by Parker Brumfield and on an error.
Brumfield went 2-for-3 with two runs batted in to lead Natchez Wallace.
&uot;The ball was down the middle, and I hit it solid,&uot; he said.
After Natchez Wallace scored twice in the bottom of the fourth for a 7-1 lead, Adam Dollar hit a two-run home run in the top of the fifth with two outs to cut the deficit to four runs.
Natchez Wallace finished out the scoring when Weeks singled and later scored on a single by Brumfield.
