Agents looking for drug suspect who fled

Law enforcement officers are looking for a Natchez resident who ran off when they arrived to search his house Monday.
Chico Hawkins, 28, 50 Brenham Ave., is wanted on a felony warrant for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute.
Officials with Natchez-Adams County Metro Narcotics arrived to search his residence at about 8:40 p.m., Monday said Maj. Chuck Mayfield.
&uot;When we were exiting our vehicles he was watching from the window,&uot; Mayfield said.
He escaped by running into a wooded area, Mayfield said.
Narcotics officers later recovered more than a gram of crack cocaine with a street value of about $300 at the residence.
They also recovered less than an ounce of marijuana, packaging and weighing materials, $350 in cash and several cellular phones, Mayfield said.
Another suspect, Tawona A. Smith, 25 of 50 Brenham Ave., was arrested at the scene and charged with possession of cocaine with intent to distribute and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
Anyone with information into Hawkins’ whereabouts is asked to call the Adams County Sheriff’s Department.
