VIDALIA— A Fayette man received additional charges from the Concordia Parish Sheriffs Office after law enforcement officials found drugs in his pocket during booking.

DeWayne N. Sims, 33, 5743 B. McNair Road, Fayette, was originally arrested by the Vidalia Police Department on charges of three counts of attempted sexual battery.

When Sims was being booked into the CPSO jail by a VPD investigator, a CPSO lieutenant noticed a small bulge in Sims’ right pocket of his pants.

The lieutenant searched Sims and found a Xanax pill that he later admitted to occasionally taking to calm his nerves.

Sims received an additional charge of possession of a scheduled IV substance.

No bond was set for Sims as of Thursday evening.
