The championship round of the 2001 Dixie Boys 13-year-old State Tournament, being played in Forest, between the Natchez All-Stars and Hattiesburg was rained out Thursday.
Natchez and Hattiesburg will play, weather permitting, at 5 p.m. today. If Natchez loses, a second championship game will be played at 8 p.m.
Natchez defeated Hattiesburg on Tuesday night, 11-1.
Natchez has won four straight games in the state tournament – all via the 10-run rule. The All-Stars defeated Columbia 15-2 in their first game.
Natchez didn’t changed too much the next night, topping Clarksdale 15-2.
After a bye, Natchez knocked off Hattiesburg on a one-hitter by Timmy Foster. On Thursday, Natchez rallied from a 4-3 deficit to beat Columbia again, 14-4.
