VIDALIA — A Vidalia man was charged with felony possession of marijuana Monday only 21 days before beginning a six-month jail sentence for possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.
Bradley J. Welch, 26, 827 Eagle Road, was arrested on charges of no seat belt — first offense and felony possession of marijuana after a routine traffic stop.
Concordia Parish Narcotics Force agents pulled Welch over near Miss-Lou Oil Supply on U.S. 84 after noticing he wasn’t wearing his seatbelt.
After smelling a strong odor of marijuana in his vehicle, the officers received permission and began searching Welch’s pickup truck, but ended up finding 13.5 grams of marijuana somewhere else.
“Welch took his shoe off and within his right shoe on top of the sole…was a flat bag of green leafy marijuana,” the arrest report from the CPSO stated.
Welch’s bond was set at $15,000.
Welch was expected to begin serving his previous jail sentence on Aug. 1.
