Wildcats slip past Jefferson County in Div. 6-3A thriller

The Wilkinson County Wildcats overcame a 10-point halftime
deficit to defeat the Jefferson County Tigers 66-65 in the Division
6-3A opener for both teams Saturday night in Woodville.
Wilkinson County won despite a 23-point effort by Jefferson
County’s Delvin Thompson.
Jefferson County (1-3, 0-1) took a 16-11 first-quarter lead
and a 33-22 halftime lead.
But Wilkinson County rallied in the second half as the Wildcats
outscored the Tigers 20-13 in the third quarter and 23-19 in the
fourth quarter for the dramatic win.
Tyrone Butler and Angelo Johnson had 13 points each and Bryant
Miller and Bennard Robinson added 11 points each for Wilkinson
County.
Londell Eanochs scored 11 points and Juan Wyatt added 10 points
for Jefferson County.
Jefferson County hosts Franklin County in a Division 6-3A matchup
Wednesday night following the varsity girls game.
