Huntington dispatches with Pine Hills on the road; NHS soccer splits

GLOSTER – Huntington’s varsity basketball teams had little problem with Pine Hills in MPSA District 5-1A play Thursday night here.
In varsity boys action, the Hounds jumped out to a big halftime lead en route to a 74-34 win over the Wildcats.
Jordan Owens led the Hounds (3-4, 2-0) with 19 points. Josh Olds had 16 points and Josh Johns added 13 points.
The Wildcats had no chance in this contest, as they were held to five points in the first quarter while the Hounds score 24 points.
The Hounds then took a 47-16 halftime lead and never looked back.
Brad Delaughter led the Wildcats with 12 points.
Lady Hounds 70, Lady Wildcats 19
After a sluggish first quarter in which they held an 11-6 lead at the end of the quarter, the Lady Hounds (3-7, 2-0) took control in the second quarter, outscoring the Lady Wildcats 25-2 on their way to the 51-point win.
The fourth quarter wasn’t much better for the Lady Wildcats, as they were outscored 26-7 in the final frame.Emily Hazlip led the Lady Hounds with 24 points and Tiffany Ferguson added 16 points. Ellen Terrell led the Lady Wildcats with six points.
Huntington next plays at Adams County Christian School at 4 p.m. Monday.

Natchez boys 1, McComb 0
McCOMB – Michael Pace scored a goal in the first overtime period to lift the Bulldogs to a 3-5 record. The Lady Bulldogs (2-6) fell to McComb, 3-0.
