VIDALIA — The Vidalia Americans 9- and 10-year-old All-Stars defeated the Avoyelles Americans 8-4 Tuesday night to capture the Louisiana Little League District 3 Championship.
Skylar Bolyer was the winning pitcher for Vidalia Tuesday night.
Vidalia head coach Rudy Wilson said he was pleased with two out of three aspects of his team’s play Tuesday night.
“We didn’t hit the ball well at all,” Wilson said. “We took too many called strike threes. We played well on defense, and Skylar pitched a good game, and that’s what bailed us out.”
Despite any disappointment in the hitting, Wilson said he was elated that his girls made it to state.
“It feels great,” Wilson said. “The girls are extremely excited. That was the goal going in, and coming from the loser’s bracket, that’s impressive. I think we were the only team to have to play five teams in a row.”
