CLAYTON — A Clayton man remained behind bars Tuesday, after leading Concordia Parish Sheriff deputies on a chase around Clayton and eventually into a neighboring parish over the weekend.
At approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, deputies responded to a call regarding a domestic abuse complaint near Margaret Circle in Clayton, Chief Deputy David Hedrick said.
After a deputy arrived on the scene, Clyde Green, 33, attempted to ram the law enforcement official’s vehicle with his car head on.
“The deputy swerved to the side, and he chased (Green) around Clayton for some time,” Hedrick said. “During the pursuit, we stationed more deputies at the home in case he came back, which he did.”
Green was speeding toward the deputies stationed at the house in an attempt to hit them before a deputy shot the tire of Green’s vehicle three times, Hedrick said.
“All three shots went into the tire, which deflated immediately, and the car veered off onto the side of the road,” Hedrick said. “After the car came to a stop, (Green) took off.”
Green successfully eluded the deputies for several hours until he was found at an acquaintance’s house in Winnsboro.
Green, 122 Margaret Circle No. 22, Clayton, was arrested on charges of careless operation, aggravated flight from officer, no seat belt — first offense, stop sign violation (eight counts), domestic abuse battery, possession of marijuana and resisting an officer.
No bond was set as of Tuesday evening.
