BATON ROUGE — Services for O.G. Wynn Jr., 94, who died, Saturday, June 30, 2012, at The Carpenter House in Baton Rouge, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blackwater United Methodist Church under with direction of Rabenhorst Funeral Home with the Rev. Linda Hagan officiating.

Graveside services will be at the Old Jena Cemetery in Jena at 10 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Kenneth Hoots officiating.

Mr. Wynn was born June 12, 1918, in Prescott, Ark.

Mr. Wynn served his country in the 17th Airborne Division, the 82nd Airborne Division and the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army, earning campaign stars for the Ardennes, Rhineland, Central Europe and the Spearhead for Airborne Rhine Crossing, having crossed the Rhine River in a glider as part of Operation Varsity. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery under direct fire from the enemies of our freedom. He was discharged from the Army as a Sergeant Major in the 101st Airborne Division. He recorded his was experiences in the book “A Soldier of the Post.”

During his professional life, Mr. Wynn worked in the construction industry and also as a draftsman, working for the Peck Lumber Company in Sicily Island, Louisiana, and Jordan, Kaiser and Sessions Civil Engineers in Natchez. Numerous buildings and other construction projects throughout Louisiana and Mississippi mark his achievements.

Mr. Wynn was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lillian, and was a resident of Baton Rouge after her passing.

Survivors include his son, James Howard Wynn, Sr. and his wife, Gloria; grandson, James Howard Wynn, Jr. and his wife, Brandi; two great-grandchildren, Landen and Nadia Wynn, and two step great-grandchildren, Destineé and Kameron Arnold, all of Baton Rouge.
