FERRIDAY — The Ferriday man accused of shooting a Ferriday teen to death in May will have to wait a few months for his day in court.
George Willie Spurs, 66, 153 Earl Davis Road, was originally arrested on a charge of second-degree attempted murder after he and Kenya Cauley were reportedly playing a game involving guns at 5:47 p.m. on May 13.
Cauley, 17, 513 Doty Road, was shot once in the torso by Spurs and was airlifted from the scene to Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Cauley died a few hours later at the hospital.
Spurs, who was identified on the scene as the shooter, was charged with second-degree murder following Cauley’s death.
The case was scheduled to be heard during Monday and Tuesday’s grand jury court proceedings, but Assistant District Attorney David Opperman said there wasn’t sufficient time to hear Spurs’ case.
The case will be heard during the grand jury’s next meeting.
The grand jury is summoned for a six-month time period.
