WOODVILLE &045; So far the Huntington Hounds have been waiting for someone to step up and provide points by the handful.

Enter Jordan Owens.

Owens triggered the Hounds’ fourth quarter and helped rally the team past Silliman, 62-57, Friday at the WCCA Shootout in Woodville.

Silliman led 43-41 heading into the fourth quarter and led by five later in the quarter. The Hounds got on a roll from there and took the five-point win.

Huntington held a 21-14 edge in the fourth quarter.

&uot;We had some guys step up and hit some key shots,&uot; Huntington head coach Michael McAnally said. &uot;Jordan Owens had a big night. He really put us on his back tonight. They ran a little 2-3 trap, and he did a good job of recognizing the gaps. Luckily for us he had the hot hand tonight.&uot;

Owens finished the game with 29 points, and he helped the Hounds stay pace in the first three quarters. The Hounds led 15-13 after one and 28-26 at halftime before Silliman held a 17-13 edge in the third quarter.

Daniel Fudge led Silliman with 19 points, while Caleb Fontenot had 17.

Trinity boys 61, Bowling Green 32

The Saints (10-3) needed little time to create separation on the scoreboard with a 21-12 edge by the end of the first and a 16-8 run in the second for a 37-20 halftime lead.

Trinity outscored the Buccaneers 17-8 in the third to lead 54-28 heading into the fourth quarter.

Top scorers for Trinity were Chase Brown with 15, Mike Lickliter with 12 and Ryan Rachal with 12. Cody Wise led Bowling Green with 16.

Oak Forest boys 70, Pine Hills 8

The Yellow Jackets had no problem from the get-go with the undermanned Wildcats, who were outscored 20-2 in each of the first two quarters for a 40-4 Oak Forest halftime lead.

Derek Mitchell led Oak Forest with 14 points. Ed Bonaventure led Pine Hills with three.

Oak Forest girls 65, Pine Hills 11

The Lady Wildcats played their best in the first quarter and trailed 13-5 before Oak Forest turned it on in the second with a 19-2 run to lead 32-7 at half.

The Lady Yellow Jackets then held an 18-2 edge in the third to lead 50-9 heading into the fourth quarter.

Brennan Fitzgerald led OFA with 20 points. Pine Hills’ top scorer was Brandi Arnold with five.

Trinity girls 32, Bowling Green 31

The Lady Saints got a bucket underneath from Mallory Archer with seven seconds left for the win.

Bowling Green inbounded the ball but couldn’t get a shot off in time to change the score.

Archer’s bucket highlighted a Trinity 8-7 edge in the fourth as the teams finished the third quarter tied at 24. Bowling Green led 19-14 at half, but the Lady Saints answered with a 10-5 run in the third.

Archer led Trinity with 15 points. BGA’s top scorer was Katilyn Dufrene with seven.
