NATCHEZ — The story of an alleged Monday armed robbery on John R. Junkin Drive may have as many holes in it as the onion rings at the center of the crime.
The victim was reportedly walking down John R. Junkin sometime between 10-10:30 p.m. when a man the victim reportedly recognized pulled up in a white Chevrolet Impala and asked the victim what was in the bag he was carrying.
The victim reportedly told the man the bag contained some money and a plate of Jughead’s Fish Fry onion rings.
The suspect then reportedly pulled out a pistol, snatched the bag from the victim and drove away.
Natchez Lt. Craig Godbold said the Natchez Police Department’s further interviews with the victim have exposed discrepancies in the victim’s account of the robbery.
“We don’t deny that something happened,” Godbold said. “But we don’t know if it could have been a robbery or a drug deal or something else. We’re still looking into it.”
