&uot; The front part of the house was totally engulfed when we got there,&uot; Lee said, adding that firefighters from Centreville and Amite County also responded to the call.

Lee was unsure of the cause of the blaze, but said investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s Office in Jackson were en route to Gloster at noon on Thursday.

Lee said autopsies have been ordered on both victims as a matter of routine procedure.

&uot;We don’t have any evidence of foul play at this time,&uot; Lee said.

Lee said the mother and son were the only occupants of the house, which belongs to Gloster resident Jean Chapman.

Lee said the victims had been living in the house as guests of Chapman’s daughter, who was at work when the fire occurred.
