NATCHEZ &045; Those Adams County Christian School Rebels like their chances in the District 3-AAA tournament.

And why shouldn’t they? The 5-7 mark in district isn’t all too shiny, but they’ve been in most games and put away a rejuvenated Lamar team 75-69, Friday night in their final regular season game.

The Rebels will likely get a No. 5 seed for next week’s tournament against Parklane, a team Lamar beat earlier this week.

ACCS (16-8 overall) tweaked its defense and went with a full-court, man-to-man defense against the Raiders Friday.

&uot;We’re working for the district tournament,&uot; ACCS head coach Ricky Gray said. &uot;We went full-court man to man for the first time this season. At times it looked real good, but we got lost a few times. That’s what we’re going to try to do against Parklane &045; keep the tempo up.&uot;

The Rebels came with an ambush at the start of the game with a 22-6 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Raiders, however, took advantage of trips to the free throw line in the second to outscore AC 25-16 to trim the lead to 38-31 at half.

The Rebels’ 22-15 run in the third quarter put their lead at 60-46 heading into the fourth quarter.

&uot;We got in some foul trouble,&uot; Gray said. &uot;We’re working on that. We beat a quality ball club tonight. They’re going to be a factor in the district tournament.&uot;

Beau Brashier led the Rebels with 21 points, while Luke Ogden had 18. Lamar’s top scorer was Matthew Fort with 20.

Kilbourne 76, Monterey 57

MONTEREY, La. &045; The Wolves trimmed the lead a bit in the second half following a sluggish first half, but the Hawks (21-7, 5-1) held tight in the fourth for the District 3-B win.

Monterey (6-21, 0-7) trailed 40-26 at halftime and trimmed the lead to 55-44 heading into the fourth quarter. That’s when the Hawks turned in a 21-13 run in the fourth to close things out.

Kilbourne’s top scorer was Brent House with 17. Roy Smith led Monterey with 24.

The Wolves wrap up the season Tuesday at Forest.

St. Aloysius 69, Cathedral 59

NATCHEZ &045; What was appearing as a nice win for the Green Wave turned out to be a dramatic win on the road for the Flashes.

The Green Wave (3-16, 1-9) motored out to a 46-41 lead heading into the fourth quarter thanks to a 24-16 run in the third. The Flashes (9-20, 5-5) answered it with a 28-13 run in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Jason Brown led the Flashes with 20 points. Cathedral’s top scorer was Matthew Hall with 20.

The Green Wave will open the Division 7-1A tournament this week at St. Al.

Block 70, Sicily Island 59

SICILY ISLAND, La. &045; The Bears (6-18, 3-5) broke open what was shaping up to be a tight game with a 30-point fourth quarter for the District 4-1A win Friday night.

Both teams were locked at 40-40 after the third quarter, but the Bears held a 30-19 edge in the fourth quarter to take the win.

Block led 30-27 at half, but the Tigers (3-19, 1-7) answered with a 13-10 advantage in the third for the tie score.

Jeremy Washington led Block with 21 points. Sicily Island’s top scorer was Cedric Jackson with 19.

Franklin County 69,

Amite County 63

MEADVILLE &045; The Bulldogs (16-8, 8-4 division 7-3A) survived a sloppy second half to eek out a win Friday against the 7-3A champion Trojans (12-9, 9-3).

Bobby Henderson led three Franklin County players in double figures with a game-high 23 points, as Zack Thomas and Anthony Wilcher chipped in with 16 and 14, respectively.

&uot;After playing a real good first, the second half we just let them (Amite) back in it,&uot; Bulldog coach Chris Jordan said.

After a slow start, Jonathan Melson led the Trojans with 20 points with Gregory Hughes adding 19.

The Bulldogs open division tournament next week and will host.
