NATCHEZ &045; A job fair will be held May 13 at Natchez High’s Steckler Multi-Purpose Center for workers laid off from International Paper’s Natchez mill.
The chamber &uot;just signed off on it Tuesday,&uot; said Laura Godfrey, executive director of Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce.
Still, efforts continue to attract another buyer for the mill and draw more federal assistance for both recruitment efforts and to assist those laid off from IP, said Michael Ferdinand, executive director of the Natchez-Adams County Chamber of Commerce.
The chamber is coordinating its job fair with the Southwest Mississippi Planning and Development District.
As of Wednesday, it was not clear which or how many employers would take part in the fair, which will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Nissan plans to hold its own job fair for IP workers, although the date have not been set, said WIN Job Center Executive Director Peggy Ballard.
More information on the job fairs will be released as the dates draw closer, they said.
