Mark Doss, front, and Charlie Ferrington, back, help guide a track hoe that is attached to a 40,000-pound reinforced concrete box culvert. The culvert is one of five that will be placed in the sinkhole in front of the Post Office on Canal Street. St. Catherine’s Creek Wildlife Refuge had the culverts available and allowed the city to use them, saving the city valuable repair time. In return, the city will have culverts built for the refuge.
