Adams County Justice Court Cases

Week of June 8-14:

Cynthia Skinner charged with sale of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury.

James Forde charged with nine counts of sexual battery. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Helen Williams pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession.

Thelma Ransom pleaded guilty to misdemeanor possession.

Terry Williams charged with two counts of sale of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury. Williams was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. Case bound over to a grand jury.

 

Adams County Circuit Court Cases

Tuesday, May 8:

Khadijah I. Mosby pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling in Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders’ court. Sentenced to three years in the State Department of Corrections suspended and placed on one year probation. Must pay all court costs within 90 days from this day and all court costs shall be paid into and at the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk. Credit given for time already served.

Tyrone Shelton pleaded guilty to grand larceny in Sanders’ court (Count 1). Sentenced to five years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections suspended and placed on three years probation. Must pay all court costs and a prosecution fee of $200 within 30 days from this date in the office of the Adams County Circuit Clerk. Count 2 (grand larceny) is dismissed.

 

Thursday, April 19:

Matthew Louis Ferry pleaded guilty to grand larceny of a motor vehicle in Judge Forest “Al” Johnson’s court. Pursuant to plea agreement with the state, the court withheld acceptance of the defendant’s guilty plea, pending successful completion of the following conditions: (1) immediately pay court costs of $141 and a prosecution fee of $200; (2) Pay a fine in the amount of $500; (3) be on good behavior and violate no laws whatsoever (including DUI), other than minor traffic offenses, for up to one year unless shortened by the court; (4) any other condition by law and imposed by the court for good cause or in the court’s discretion, during said period of non-adjudication. Defendant is further ordered to serve one year of post release supervision with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

 

Monday, April 16:

Vantrell Jenkins pleaded guilty to simple robbery non-enhanced in Sanders’ court. Sentenced to 10 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Upon release from the Mississippi Department of Corrections, the defendant shall pay restitution in the amount of $100. Credit given time already served.

 

Tuesday, April 10:

Javerra Johnson was previously sentenced to serve seven years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one count of identity theft, obtaining for unlawful use in Johnson’s court. The court retained jurisdiction for a period of one year for placement into the R.I.D. program. The court is advised that the defendant has successfully completed the R.I.D. program. The defendant is placed on Intensive Supervision for one year and the remaining five years on post release supervision with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Kevin T. Williams has his post-release supervision revoked in Johnson’s court after the court found that the defendant was clearly in violation of the terms and conditions of his supervision. The defendant admitted using and testing positive for the use of illegal drugs while on supervision and was also recently arrested on a new felony shoplifting charge. He is ordered to serve the full remaining balance of his sentence in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. Further ordered that the defendant receive intensive and therapeutic drug rehabilitation and treatment by the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

 

Natchez Municipal Court Cases

Tuesday, June 5:

Francis Torries, 21, charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling with a weapon. Waived preliminary hearing. Case bound over to a grand jury. Bond reduced from $45,000 to $30,000.

Erwin Nichols, age N/A, charged with burglary of an inhabited dwelling with a weapon. Case bound over to a grand jury. Bond set at $67,500.

Georgia Irene Chatman, 24, charged with shoplifting — third offense. Case bound over to a grand jury. Bond set at $15,000.

James C. Luster III, 21, charged with murder. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Cedric Jones charged with obstruction of justice. Charge dismissed.

Thomasia B. Gaines, 42, charged with being a fugitive from justice. Case remanded to files and dismissed after one year.

Zasper Kennedy Griffin, 24, charged with possession or carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon. Waived preliminary hearing. Case bound over to a grand jury. Bond set at $5,000.
