NATCHEZ &045; The threat of nasty weather stayed away long enough Sunday for everyone playing in the 28th annual Harvest Club Golf Tournament at the Duncan Park Golf Course to get in their rounds.

First-round leader Thurman Glass of Memphis, Tenn., didn’t shoot a 4-under-par 67 like he did on Saturday, but he played well enough to win the tournament championship with a two-day score of 138.

Glass shot an even-par 71 Sunday for his two-shot win over Robbie Pitts of Mobile, Ala.

&uot;I didn’t play too well today,&uot; Glass said. &uot;I didn’t putt too well. I missed a short eagle putt on 11 from about three feet and a short birdie putt on 17. I just didn’t drive the ball well.&uot;

Pitts, who was trailing Glass by one shot with a 3-under 68 going into Sunday’s action, fired a 1-over 72 to finish second with a two-day total of 140.

&uot;I played fairly well,&uot; Pitts said. &uot;I was capable of hitting the ball, but with the wind I had a bad day. When you finish first, second or third it feels great.&uot;

Defending tournament champion Leroy Smith of New Orleans ended up in a unique, albeit rare, predicament.

Smith was in the first flight and in a tie for second place after shooting a disappointing 5-over 76 on Saturday.

He then turned around and shot a 5-under 66, the low round of the two-day tournament, and jumped into the championship flight, where he finished in third place.

&uot;It feels good,&uot; Smith said about his finish. &uot;I made some putts today. I had a good round today. The wind was blowing pretty good today.&uot;

Natchez’s Lynette West won the ladies’ tournament championship by 18 shots after shooting an 88 on Sunday for a two-day score of 170.

&uot;It feels pretty good. It’s truly a blessing,&uot; West said. &uot;The first round, I had my ‘A’ game. The second round, I was struggling with my short game. I just always aim to play my best and I

had a good time.&uot;

Because Smith was bumped up the championship flight, Mike Williams of Mobile ended up winning the first flight with a two-day score of 150 after back-to-back rounds of 75.
