Get ready for Parent Academy II
Published 12:00 am Wednesday, July 21, 2010
The Natchez-Adams School District will host Parent Academy II on Tuesday, July 27, 2010 from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. in the Natchez High School auditorium. The focus of this forum is to empower parents with strategic approaches that will enhance the academic performance of students. Both educators and parents are faced with the ultimate challenge of ensuring that today’s youth are adequately prepared to be successful in today’s global society. Unquestionably, this is a vision that can be accomplished when parents and teachers work as a team in the best interest of the students. The Natchez-Adams School District is requesting the presence of parents, teachers and all community stakeholders to become proactive in the quest to better serve the children of the NASD.
The theme for Parent Academy II is “Skills for Parents: Tricks of the Trade”. Sessions will be presented on strategies and methodologies implored across the curriculum by highly qualified teachers to help parents augment the educational experiences of their children. The sessions will be presented every hour (10:00-11:00, 11:00-12:00, 12:00-1:00, 1:00-2:00, 2:00-3:00, 3:00-4:00, 4:00-5:00, and 5:00-6:00). Incentives and door prizes will be offered during the various sessions. The following teachers will present to parents: Geraldine Brown (West Primary) “Math Tricks for Parents”, Jennifer Haile (Frazier Primary) “Growing a Family of Reading”, LaTarsha Thomas (McLaurin) “Language Arts to Know”, Shanetra Jones (Morgantown) “Math Strategies for Parents”, Ruthie Washington (Robert Lewis Middle) “Science – What you Should” and Lillie Bryant (Natchez High) “Algebra Tricks”. We look forward to seeing you on the 27th for another dynamic educational extravaganza.
