&045; Teenagers are always looking for summer jobs, and Joanna Stubbs thinks she’s found the perfect one.

For the second summer in a row, Stubbs, a 2003 Cathedral graduate, is babysitting for Bruce and Nancy Laird at their house on Pine Street in Vidalia.

The Lairds have two children, Katelee and Hudson, and on Monday cousins Emma Hogue and Andy Opperman joined them.

The four were enjoying the backyard pool Monday as temperatures rose into the high 80s. With the high humidity, it felt like the temperature was in the mid 90s.

Nancy Laird created a water wonderland when she painted the pool several years ago. A large mosaic sun covers the bottom of the pool and the edge of the pool is lined with smaller suns and graphic designs.

Along the sides of the pool, a swimmer can find mermaids, scuba divers, treasure chests, and of course, fish. The children painted the objects on the sides while Nancy was painting the huge sun on the bottom.

The colorful designs, a slide and cool water all combined to be a favorite spot on Monday afternoon.

Stubbs, a certified lifeguard, will be heading to Shreveport this fall to attend Centenary College of Louisiana where she will be playing soccer.

But for now, she’s just enjoying her summer job.

&uot;This is a pretty laid-back job,&uot; she said.
