Elections end, Miss-Lou looks ahead

An exhausting election cycle is finally behind us, and new and returning leaders soon will be taking office.
The Miss-Lou has enjoyed and suffered through elections in almost every office in a year’s time, electing Adams County supervisors, a Concordia Parish sheriff and police jurors, Vidalia aldermen and police chief, Ferriday mayor and a Natchez mayor and aldermen.
Now, we can sit back and focus on the next four years. But first, let’s just think about the last week.
Here are a few good things that made the week special.
– Elevance Renewable Sciences recently celebrated its first year in business in Adams County. The facility is churning out product and preparing to ramp up further. We are glad to have them as new community neighbors.
– Ferriday Lower Elementary students T’Kyah Gill and Romon Thomas are enjoying summer from the seat of their new bicycles. The students were eligible for the bikes — which they won in a school contest — based on their good behavior. See, being good does have its benefits.
– Joe and Dianne Good and 32 of their favorite children — plus some chaperons — are preparing to hit the road on a summer trip to Atlanta. The Goods lead a youth group in the community and make a point of taking the children on a trip outside of Natchez each year for the learning experience. Our community is blessed to have folks like the Goods who do what they do.
It’s heating up outside, but thankfully life is cool in the Miss-Lou. Enjoy your summer.
