The Ferriday Gators rebounded from their opening round loss Sunday to take a 15-0 thumping over Delhi Monday to advance at the Dixie Debs district tournament at Delhi. The Gators dropped a 5-3 decision to Jonesville in the opening round, but things started looking plenty like normal for a team that lost in the finals of the World Series last summer.

Ferriday will play Winnsboro today.

&uot;They came back well,&uot; Ferriday head coach Rut Horne said. &uot;They know our margin of error is nothing now. When you’re undefeated, you have a margin of error, but we’ve been here before. I just can’t believe we can make as many mistakes again. We hadn’t played in 10 days, and it looked like it. When we play several games in a row, we play better.&uot;

The Gators jumped on the Delhi pitching from the start by scoring four runs in the first, seven in the second and four in the third to enact the 10-run mercy rule.

&uot;They did well,&uot; Horne said. &uot;It’s hard to stay focused when a game gets out of hand like that, but they did.&uot;

Hedrick started on the mound and combined with Doughty, Miller and Christy Corley for a no-hitter. One Delhi runner reached base but was thrown out as Ferriday’s four pitchers faced the minimum number of batters.
