NATCHEZ — Services for George Alan Melton, 44, of Hazelhurst, who died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, in Hazelhurst, will be at 2 p.m. today at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Timothy Nabb officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from noon until service time today at the funeral home.
Melton was born Feb. 8, 1968, in Baton Rouge, the son of George C. Melton and Christi Newman Benner. He was a devoted son, husband and father. He was a disabled construction worker. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Woodrow “preacher” Newman, James Noel and Eddie V. Melton.
Survivors include his wife, Tracy Morris; two sons, George Adrian Melton of Oil City, Penn., and Lou Matthew Melton of Hazelhurst; two daughters, Greta Elaine Melton of Oil City and Alayna Brook Melton of Hazelhurst; his mother; one sister, Catherine “Kitten” Whaley and husband, Josh, of Hazelhurst; one brother, Seth “Boogie” Benner of Hazelhurst; two newphews, Zachary Laine Whaley and Braxton Lee Whaley of Hazelhurst; his grandmother, Hazel “Nell” Newman of Natchez; a number of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends and he was awaiting the birth of his first grandson.
Pallbearers will be Josh Whaley, Adrian Melton, Seth Benner, Bob Grace, Jonathon Newman and Deacon Newman.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roddy Cupit, Doug Newman, Austin Kinsley and Tim Naab.
