Hospitality makes film crew at home

After just two days of having a gaggle of Hollywood film industry types milling about our streets and picking up lunch in our restaurants and staying in our hotels, we have to admit it: We’re still starstruck.
But from what the people involved in production of &uot; The Ladykillers&uot; have said, they are, too.
They are struck by our town &045;&045; and its hospitality. Location manager Murray Miller said this week he’s been impressed by how much residents as well as city and county officials have done to make the production team feel welcome and to help them complete their jobs.
We can’t imagine how they could have felt any different.
After all, Natchez is the kind of place &045;&045; and has the kind of people &045;&045; that can make anyone feel at home.
Joel Coen brothers and his production team shot the final scenes here in Natchez, wrapping up outside shots for a movie that was mostly filmed in Los Angeles.
But we’ve shown them the kind of hospitality that makes us hope Natchez will be the kind of place film studios look when scouting locations &045;&045; not only because it’s a pretty place on film but also because it’s simply a good place to do business.
Will the movie business replace tourism or traditional industry in our economy?
Well, no. But it was nice to be invited along for the ride this time &045;&045; and we’d be more than happy to host such an opportunity again.
See you at the movies.
