RAYVILLE &045; Rayville head coach Bo Barton, the nephew of Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth, was hoping his ninth-ranked Hornets would pull off a big upset over Faircloth’s third-ranked Vikings Friday night.

Instead, the Vikings got three touchdowns from quarterback Tony Hawkins and two each from Michael Randall and Chris Williams as they cruised to a lopsided win over the Hornets to remain undefeated.

Hawkins was just 4-of-11 passing, but he threw for 112 yards and two touchdown passes.

The first one occurred just 12 seconds into the game as Hawkins connected with Rodney Washington on a 65-yard pass during which a Rayville defensive back fell down trying to cover Washington.

The second one happened with 0:56 to go in the opening quarter when he connected with C.J. Williams on a 25-yard pass that gave the Vikings (4-0) a 22-8 lead going into the second quarter.

&uot;The offense executed well,&uot; Vidalia head coach Dee Faircloth said. &uot;Tony Hawkins is back in his groove throwing and running the offense.&uot;

After Richard Murphy’s 34-yard scoring run nearly midway through the first quarter, Rayville’s offense sputtered for much of the rest of the game against a tough Vikings defense.

&uot;The defense was the key,&uot; Faircloth said. &uot;We shut them down after the first score. The last score was against our second team.&uot;

That second score was a 5-yard run by Murphy with just 31 seconds to go in the game.

Randall scored on runs of 11 and 28 yards and Chris Williams added scoring runs of 61 and 19 yards. Hawkins also scored on a 7-yard run.

Ferriday 33, Peabody 20

The Trojans scored their second win of the season Friday night with a victory over Peabody.

Despite an impressive 65-yard interception for a touchdown in the second quarter, Peabody couldn’t keep up with the Trojans.

Ferriday jumped out to an early lead in the first quarter, scoring two touchdowns on a 27-yard Theotis Cummings run and later with a 7-yard Montago Tennessee run. Dra Carl Walker got the extra points on both tries.

In the second quarter Peabody got on the board with a 6-yard run from Latonio Pryor, with the extra-point from Emmanuel Arceneux.

Ferriday’s Cummings answered with a 40-yard run, but the point-after attempt failed.

The Trojans scored again with a 36-yard pass to Christopher Sheppard from Reward Cage, although the kick failed.

Peabody scored again in the second on D’Andre Berry’s interception. The point-after attempt was no good.

Peabody got the only score of the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Craig Pullen, with Arceneaux’s scoring the extra point.

In the fourth, Cummings scored again for Ferriday on a 32-yard run, with Walker kicking the extra point.

The Trojans, now 2-3, are at home next week against Carroll.

Block 41, Caldwell 14

JONESVILLE, La. &045; After playing to a 14-14 tie through one quarter Block began pounding away at Caldwell, building a 28-14 lead at halftime.

The Bears had two running backs go over the 100-yard century plateau, with E.J. Wilkerson’s 167 yards on 19 carries leading the way.

The shifty Demetrius Duncan pitched in with 124 yards on 14 rushing attempts, while Johnny Lee amassed 80 yards to Michael Griffin’s 62.

For the game the Bears had 420 yards of total offense, neither punting nor losing a fumble once.
