LIBERTY &045; The Trinity Saints had another dominating performance on both sides of the ball as the No. 1 team in MPSA Class A defeated the Amite School Center Rebels 34-0 Friday night in a District 7-A game.

Trinity (7-0, 3-0) racked up 309 total yards of offense &045; 228 on the ground &045; and the defense pitched its fifth shutout of the season and held the Rebels (2-5, 1-2) to just 36 total yards.

Gregory Ketchings led Trinity’s running game with 96 yards on six carries, including a 58-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and Walt Ketchings had 55 yards on nine carries.

&uot;We were just able to out-man them on the offensive line,&uot; Saints head coach David King said. &uot;We’ve got several different ball carriers.&uot;

Ryan Rachal was 2 of 4 for 67 yards, with both completions being for touchdowns, one a 39-yarder to Chase Brown in the first quarter and the other a 28-yarder to Dudley Guice Jr. in the second quarter.

Guice also caught a touchdown pass from Brown, which covered 14 yards later on the second quarter.

&uot;A good win to have going into the Glenbrook game,&uot; King said. &uot;We were able to play a lot of people tonight. (We were) just trying to be balanced tonight and work on our offensive line.&uot;

WCCA 64, Pine Hills 0

GLOSTER &045; Six different rushers ran for touchdowns as the Rams also stayed undefeated in MPSA District 7-A with the win Friday night.

Colin Dor led the Rams (4-3, 3-0) with 57 yards on seven carries and scored on a 1-yard run late in the third quarter.

Unfortunately for Pine Hills (0-7, 0-3) eighth-grade quarterback Lee Turner went down with a compound fracture of his right throwing arm with 10 minutes to go in the first quarter.

Turner fumbled the ball and one of his own teammates who went to recover the ball fell on his arm.

After that, the Rams played with 10 players as well for the rest of the first half.

However, injuries continued to mount for the Wildcats, and because of that both teams played with eight players on both sides of the ball in the second half.

Silliman 28, Centreville 14

CENTREVILLE &045; The Tigers welcomed back Blake Devall with the cast, but the turnovers kept them from mounting some serious momentum on offense this week against the Wildcats.

Centreville finished the game with three interceptions, many of which came during the middle of the game when the Wildcats scored three unanswered touchdowns to take control of the game.

Caleb Dorsey hit Cody Savoy on a 33-yard touchdown pass to tie the game up at 7-7 in the first quarter to finish up a 99-yard drive that started when the Tigers stalled out at the SI 1.

The Tigers (3-4), who had a 20-yard TD run from Devall in the first quarter, got another score from Devall in the fourth when he broke a 44-yard run to cut the lead to 28-14.

Tensas 40, Huntington 6

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; The Chiefs’ heads are above water in MPSA district 7-A with a thrashing of the Hounds as they attacked Huntington all night with a balanced offensive attack.

The Chiefs (2-5, 2-1 district 7-A) got four of their six touchdowns from tailback Cody Hill as he scored on runs of 6, 1 and 9, tacked onto a 45-yard scoring reception from quarterback Tyler White.

Huntington (2-5, 0-3) closed within one, 7-6, a hair into the second quarter when Kyle Johnson plunged in from two yards out.

Prairie View 47, CHA 14

BASTROP, La. &045; In a bout of winless teams, the Spartans jumped out to a quick lead and used the legs of Brandon Wooten to put away the visiting Wildcats and land their first win.

The Wildcats finished the game with three turnovers, one of which Steven Korjan returned 40 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Spartans got three touchdowns in the second quarter from Wooten to take a 20-0 lead before Tyler Lake threw a 38-yard touchdown pass to put CHA on the board and go into halftime trailing 20-6.

Franklin Co. 29, Jefferson Co. 6

FAYETTE &045; Perhaps with their thoughts toward teammate Anthony Chambliss, under treatment for cancer, the Tigers could only muster 233 yards of total offense, as the Bulldogs improved to 2-0 in region 7-3A.

Franklin County (4-2, 2-0) quarterback Tommy Gibbs, who finished with 100 yards passing, hooked up with junior speedster Jonathan Brooks on two touchdowns, both in the second quarter, as the Bulldogs led 15-6 at the break.

Carroll 36, Ferriday 0

FERRIDAY, La. &045; The Trojans were blanked Friday night at home while Carroll held Theotis Cummings to just 51 yards rushing in the non-district win at Melz Field.

Carroll scored three touchdowns in the second quarter and two in the third to take control of the game.
