FERRIDAY — The Ferriday man accused of shooting a Ferriday teen to death in May will have an arraignment hearing on June 27.
George Willie Spurs, 66, 153 Earl Davis Road, was originally arrested on a charge of second-degree attempted murder after he and Kenya Cauley were reportedly playing a game involving guns at 5:47 p.m. on May 13.
“Allegedly, they were playing a game where they point guns at each other,” said Concordia Parish Capt. David Hedrick. “(Spurs) said he intended to shoot over (Cauley’s) head, but ended up shooting him in the chest.”
Cauley, 17, 513 Doty Road, was shot once in the torso by Spurs and was airlifted from the scene to Rapides Regional Medical Center.
Cauley died a few hours later at the hospital.
Spurs, who was identified on the scene as the shooter, was charged with second-degree murder following Cauley’s death.
Judge Leo Boothe of Division B will preside in the case.
