MERIDIAN &045; The initial reports were correct, and the Adams Christian Rebels are still struggling to score points.

Lamar used good field position early to take a 28-0 lead by the end of the first quarter before finishing with a 49-7 win over the Rebels Friday night in District 2-AAA action Friday night.

&uot;Field position was a big part,&uot; ACCS head coach Keith Walters said. &uot;Their 28 points in the first quarter &045; the farthest they drove was 38 yards. Field position was a big part of it. We talked about it all week how we had to go up there and control the football. They played us real tough against the run.&uot;

The Rebels went scoreless early and had to abandon the run for the passing game in an effort to get back in the game. They didn’t get on the board until the fourth quarter when Luke Ogden scored on a 1-yard run for a touchdown after the Raiders opened up a 49-0 lead.

&uot;After 21-0, you’re out of your game plan,&uot; Walters said. &uot;We played hard. We’re in that tough stretch (of schedule), and we knew before the game they were a really good team. We were ready to play and played hard. But hey &045; they’re good. They are a serious contender for the Division II state championship, I can tell you that.&uot;

Oak Forest 28, Centreville 7

CENTREVILLE &045; The Tigers were already eliminated from the postseason but couldn’t play a spoiler role against the Yellow Jackets and head coach Jason Brabham, a former CA football standout.

The Jackets got on the board with a 10-yard touchdown pass from Shane Holland to Frank Drago after the Tigers fired off a 10-yard punt into a driving wind. Centreville fumbled on its next drive to give OFA the ball at the Centreville 23, and the Jackets got a 12-yard run from Holland for a 14-0 lead with 9:16 left.

The Tigers got the ball and used a 41-yard pass from Jennings Field to Blake Devall to set up a 2-yard TD run from Devall to cut the lead to 14-7, but the Jackets punched one in before the half on a fourth-and-6 situation when Holland hit Drago on a 27-yard TD pass.

Oak Forest then took the opening kickoff and drove downfield for a score when Brandon Seal finished the drive with a 6-yard run for a score. The Tigers got it back and had a 68-yard pass from Field to Devall, but they couldn’t punch it in.

Trinity 67, Tensas Academy 0

ST. JOSEPH, La. &045; Trinity Episcopal may have been a little concerned

that their No. 1 ranking in MPSA Class A and their undefeated season were both in jeopardy after leading Tensas just 7-0.

But any thoughts of the Saints looking ahead to their showdown with WCCA quickly ended with a 35-point outburst in the third quarter as they went on to defeat the Chiefs 67-0 Friday night in a District 7-A game.

Chase Brown, who led Trinity’s rushing attack with 120 yards on 13 carries, had the only touchdown of the first half with an 11-yard run with 9:19 to go in the second quarter for the 7-0 lead at the half.

Then Trinity (9-0, 4-0) proved why it is the best team in Class A by putting a pesky Tensas (3-6, 2-2) team away and ended any chances of a possible playoff berth.

While the Saints offense had 454 total yards, 361 of those on the ground, the Chiefs were held to just 73 yards of total offense.

Walt Ketchings started the third-quarter scoring spree with a 12-yard touchdown run with 11:21 to go. Then Brown scored on a 55-yard run less than two minutes later for a 21-0 Trinity lead.

Dudley Guice Jr. scored the next three touchdowns for the Saints, first on a 20-yard pass from Ryan Rachal, then on a 34-yard interception return and finally on a 4-yard pass from Rachal for a 42-0 lead.

Rachal went 6-of-13 with one interception for 93 yards and Guice caught all six of those passes.

But the Saints weren’t done scoring as they added another 25 points in the fourth quarter.

Brown scored on a 1-yard run, Stevan Ridley scored on a 51-yard run and a 40-yard interception return and Joey Wilson scored on a 9-yard run.

FERRIDAY, La. &045;&160;The Hounds got three touchdowns in each of the first two quarters to put away struggling Pine Hills Friday night for their homecoming victory.

Trevillion scored two touchdowns in the second quarter with Johnson scoring one for a 42-0 lead. Trevillion added another score in the fourth.

WCCA 46, Amite School Center 0

LIBERTY &045; The Rams got a touchdown on their first play from scrimmage and didn’t look back when Ruston Cado scored on a 13-yard run with 10:52 left.

Amite then started at its own 19 before a pass was intercepted by Randy Harris, who returned it 29 yards for a touchdown for a 14-0 lead with 9:14 left.

The Rams then got the ball back and got a 23-yard scoring run from Dustin Dor for a 21-0 lead with 5:53 left. Dor punched it in again with 1:55 left for a 27-0 lead at halftime.
