JONESVILLE, La. &045; Demetrius Duncan scored four straight touchdowns over a stretch of two quarters and finished with 214 all-purpose yards as the Bears got back over the .500 mark with a 54-0 win over Lakeview to up their record to 4-3.

Duncan, who had 154 yards rushing on just nine carries, scored on a 4-yard run and a 60-yard punt return in the first quarter and on runs of 48 and 9 yards in the second quarter to help Block take a 47-0 halftime lead.

The Bears ended up with 450 yards of total offense while Lakeview (5-2), a Class 2A team, was held to just 140 total yards. The Gators also hurt themselves with three turnovers and just 5-of-23 passing.

Demetrius Bowie was 3-of-7 passing for 75 yards and had an interception on defense. Brantley Taylor had 12 tackles and Deron Hood added two sacks.

Rayville 25, Ferriday 20

FERRIDAY, La. &045; Twice the Trojans had the lead and both times they couldn’t hold it, including a 20-19 lead in the fourth quarter as the Hornets rallied to take the win Friday night to go to 6-1.

&uot;Overall we played well,&uot; Trojans head coach James McFarland said. &uot;Both teams played very hard. We played well offensively and defensively. We just came up a little short.&uot;

The Trojans had 17 first downs, 240 yards rushing &045; 131 from Theotis Cummings &045; and Scotty Cage was 7-of-12 passing for 82 yards and two touchdowns. But three turnovers hurt their chances of winning the game.

After Ferriday (2-5) took the lead with 10:50 to go in the game on a nine-yard pass from Cage to Montago Tennessee, it looked like the Trojans were going to pull off the upset.

But later on in the quarter, Rayville’s punt hit a Trojan player and the Hornets recovered. A trick play resulted in the eventual win for Rayville.

&uot;Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than to be good,&uot; McFarland said. &uot;Rayville used a spread offense. They ran the ball a lot, though, but they threw three touchdown passes.&uot;

Earlier in the game Ferriday took a 13-7 lead on a 2-yard run by Tennessee with 5:41 to go until halftime, but Rayville scored a touchdown to tie the score at 13-13 at the half.
