ST. JOSEPH, La. — Services for Leon Barece, 83, of Waterproof, who died Friday, May 25, 2012, at Rapides Regional Medical Center in Alexandria, La., will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in St. Joseph with the Rev. Dan Barece officiating.

Burial will follow at Helena Cemetery in St. Joseph under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home in Ferriday.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Barece was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Waterproof, the son of Daniel and Molly Bush Barece. He was a farmer.

Mr. Barece was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Willie Barece.

Survivors include three sons, Isaac Daniel of Houston, Texas, Leon Smith and Willie Ray Smith, both of Las Vegas; three daughters, Terry Barece and Linda Davis, both of New Orleans and Molly Ann Smith of Las Vegas; one sister, Virginia Barece of Waterproof; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
